Safety – it’s everyone’s responsibility

When you hear this word, you may think of a workplace incident, job interview or a supervisor reminding you to be safe! The statement “be safe” is a rather incomplete statement. How, when, where, what are a few action verbs that are critical for the successful completion of a task or project. As one of the essential elements along with quality and efficiency, these are our cornerstones for our success plan.

Actionable Safety for Task Success and Project Completion

From a safety standpoint, it involves creating organized efforts and procedures for identifying workplace hazards while reducing accidents and exposure to harmful situations or substances. It also includes training of personnel in accident prevention, accident response, emergency preparedness, and use of protective clothing and equipment. Successful comprehensive programs also include measures to address ergonomics, air quality, and other aspects of workplace safety that could affect the health and well-being of employees and the overall community. Leadership is focused on promoting, protecting and educating about safety – it is part of our daily activities. We understand the importance and how to work in a safe manner on our project sites.

COVID-19 Safety Measures and Preventing Workplace Incidents

Now that the COVID 19 pandemic has more than taken root in our country, we have not lost focus on safety, including additional team reminders alongside daily cleaning of work surfaces, vehicles, work tools and washing of hands multiple times throughout the day. These daily efforts are not only for slowing the spread of COVID 19 on our job sites it is also to focus on the prevention of workplace incidents. The word “safety” can become overused, producing a less-than-desirable result. An incident can take less than 100th of a second to occur with a lifetime of regrets for all parties. That is faster than a blink of an eye.

Bringing Safety Home

Yet, this is only part of the goal, we need to carry this mindset home as we undertake home duties. Remember your “why”. You work to provide for your family and enjoy the fruits of your labors. From insulators to plumbers, windows to builders, lenders to landscapers, architects to lumber yards, everyone must remain focused on safety.
