Memorial Day is recognized on the last Monday of May, which falls on May 31st this year. Memorial Day honors all the men and women who died while serving in the US Military. It is also celebrated along with a number of military-related holidays that fall in May, including Armed Forces Day, Military Spouses Day and VE Day.

Memorial Day was originally celebrated in various forms to remember those who had passed in the Civil War. Each of the northern states following the war had recognized a formal “Decoration Day” in May, while the southern states had their own versions of recognizing those who had died.

Memorial Day has since evolved to recognize all who have died in wars. It became an official federal holiday in 1971. Specialty Insulation wants to recognize the ultimate sacrifice that has been given by men and women who have lost their life protecting our country. We also want to thank all the men and women who serve and put their lives at risk.
